Take that next step

No matter who you are or where you're at in life, you matter. Here at St. John's we're all about helping people to know the God who made them and wants to have an eternal and everyday relationship with this. As you poke around on the pages of our website, we hope that you'll get a sense of the way God's Spirit is on the move in our midst. And we'd love to have to stop in and worship with us!

FOLLOWING JESUS EVERYDAY

Our mission is simple: we help people to take next steps in following Jesus.  For us as a church, we’ve defined that using four “L” words, which together form a cross: LEARN, LOVE, LEAD, and LIVE.

LEARN GOD’S WORD

We are students, always being open to what God’s Spirit is revealing through his Word. Whether in a Sunday morning sermon, small group Bible study or personal devotional time, we believe that God is revealing a truth that touches our hearts and transforms our lives.

LOVE LIKE FAMILY

Life is not meant to be lived alone. We are created for loving relationships. We see the church as a family where in spite of our imperfections and quirks we are united by the gospel of Jesus and invited to love as he did. If you’re looking for a place to be known and belong, we offer a number of different small groups based on age, interest and time availability.

LEAD WITHIN CAPACITY

Everyone has something to offer. And in that we are servants. We believe the church and world is a better place when everyone uses their skills, experiences and passions to meet the needs of our neighbors. Step up and serve somewhere. Your neighbor needs you!

LIVE FOR JESUS

We see ourselves as everyday missionaries. God gives us opportunities live out our faith publicly and be able to explain why in a winsome way. We demonstrate good behavior and we do good deeds in order that we might be able to influence others and speak the good news about Jesus.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE LUTHERAN?

Most churches are a part of some type of denomination or network of churches.

St. John’s is aligned with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.  We invite you to go online at lcms.org to find out more information on Lutheran Beliefs and Practices FAQs.  The beauty of our Lutheran beliefs is that you are able to either “swim in the deep end” or “wade in the shallow end” of the pool.  Martin Luther summarizes the essence of what we believe by using the following three phrases:

GRACE ALONE
We are recipients of God’s undeserved love (Ephesians 2:8-9).

FAITH ALONE
We trust that in Jesus our sins are forgiven and that God’s Spirit now fills us.

SCRIPTURE ALONE
We look to the Bible as the sole authority in determining what we believe and how we live as Christians (2 Timothy 3:14-17).

We’d love to have you walk through our doors and join us for worship some weekend.  We offer services at 8:30 AM (traditional hymns, organ-led) and 10:30 AM (contemporary songs, band-led).  You’re also welcome to join us for a more laid-back Wednesday evening worship experience at 7 PM (March through December).

Love Made Known

This Easter we’re teaching through the book of 1 John.  The apostle John, as a father-figure to the church, attempts to distill a lifetime of being with Jesus.  John’s language is simple and at times repetitive, with the word “love” appearing 50 times and the word “know” 44 times.  It’s a “love made known.”  He wants them to know what love is and to make that love known in a world filled with deceptive practices and philosophies. Throughout the Easter season we’ll take five weeks to unpack these five power-packed chapters.
